Milton Wisconsin July 4 Parade — 1 PM, Tuesday, July 4 2017 • We will be staging on Crescent or Romar Drive in Milton. I will not get our staging number until a few days before the parade—but I will post it on the Rock Valley Fellowship of Reconciliation web site RockValleyFOR.org as soon as I know what our number is. Staging instructions: http://rockvalleyfor.org/2017-instructions-map.pdf We are #18 in the lineup so we'll step out shortly after 1 PM. There are 100 entrants in the parade. I will be there shortly after 10 AM; red Dodge Dakota truck with the trailer carrying the Rock Valley Fellowship of Reconciliation sign “Peace is Patriotic.” Hard to miss! There are restrooms at La Mar Park. • Suggestion: get there early, drop off anything you want where our unit is staged and then park in the area where the parade ends. There is a small parking lot at Central Park and there is more parking at Milton High School just south of Central Park. Then walk back to the staging area. That’s a distance of one mile, so give yourself plenty of time. This way, you won’t have to walk all the way back to the beginning to get to your vehicle after the parade when you are hot and tired! Parking is tight around the staging area. I will have water and snacks including Norm’s famous baloney and American cheese slices sandwiches to keep the group fortified until we step out. • Participating in this parade proclaiming our message of peace is very rewarding. July 16 is now recognized both in Dane County and in the State of Wisconsin as Atomic Veterans Recognition Day, in large part due to the efforts of member Lincoln Grahlfs. We are sponsoring an event to take place at Capital Lakes, at 333 West Main Street in Madison, on Sunday, July 16 from 2-4 pm in the Grand Hall. Lincoln will give us a presentation on the subject of Atomic Veterans.
